Privacy Policy

What KitchenNodes collects, why it is collected, how long it is kept and how to have it deleted. Written in plain language rather than legal filler.

No accounts, no newsletter

Nothing on this site asks you to register or hand over an email address before you can read a recipe. There is no mailing list to be added to.

Your message, your reply

Contact form details are used to answer you and nothing else. They are never sold, rented or passed to marketers.

Delete it any time

Ask for a copy of your data or ask for it to be erased. Requests are answered inside thirty days, usually the same week.

Who runs this site

KitchenNodes is a recipe website published at https://kitchennodes.com/. It is written and operated by an individual rather than a company, and it covers two categories of recipe: chicken and sauce. In this policy, "we", "us" and "the site" all mean KitchenNodes, and "you" means anyone visiting the site or sending a message through it.

For any question about this policy, about the data held on you, or to request deletion, write to info@kitchennodes.com or call +92 317 6939169. Requests are answered inside thirty days and usually much sooner, because the site holds very little personal data to begin with.

What personal data is collected

The site is deliberately light on data collection. There is no account system, no newsletter, no membership area and nothing that gates a recipe behind a form. In practice, personal data reaches the site through four routes only.

Contact form messages

When you send a message through the contact page, the form collects your name, your email address, the topic you selected and the text of your message. Your IP address is recorded briefly to enforce the limit on how many messages one connection can send in an hour. This information is used to reply to you and for nothing else.

Comments

If comments are enabled on a post and you leave one, WordPress stores the comment text, the name and email address you typed, your IP address and your browser user agent string. This is standard WordPress behaviour and helps display the comment and filter spam. An anonymised string created from your email address, called a hash, may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you have a profile picture.

Server logs

The web host keeps automatic access logs, as every host does. These record the IP address making a request, the page requested, the time, the referring page and the browser used. Logs exist for security and troubleshooting, are generated by the hosting provider rather than by any script on this site, and are rotated and deleted on the host's own schedule.

Cookies and analytics

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. The site itself sets very few. WordPress may set one if you leave a comment, so the form can remember your details next time, and it sets session cookies for anyone logging in to the admin area. Analytics tools, where used, set their own cookies to count visits and record where traffic came from.

Why the data is collected

Every item listed above has a specific purpose. Nothing is gathered on the off chance it might be useful later.

  • To reply to you. A message with no reply address cannot be answered.
  • To keep the site working. Logs and security records let faults be traced and abuse blocked.
  • To stop spam. IP and timing checks on the form keep automated submissions out.
  • To understand what people read. Aggregate analytics show which recipes are worth more attention.
  • To meet legal obligations, where records must be kept by law.

Where your local law requires a legal basis for processing, the bases relied on are your consent, given when you choose to send a message or leave a comment, and legitimate interest in running and securing a website. Consent can be withdrawn at any time by writing to the address at the bottom of this page.

How long data is kept

Contact form messages are kept while the enquiry is open and for a reasonable period afterwards, so a follow up question can be answered in context. Older messages are deleted periodically, and sooner on request.

Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so that replies still make sense to later readers, unless you ask for removal. Server logs follow the hosting provider's rotation schedule, typically a matter of weeks. Analytics data is aggregated and is not linked to your name or email address.

Who your data is shared with

Personal data is never sold, rented or traded, and it is not passed to data brokers, advertisers or list builders. A small number of service providers necessarily handle data as part of running the site: the web host, which stores the database and generates logs; the email provider, which carries contact form messages to the inbox; analytics providers, where used; and spam filtering services, which may check comment content and IP addresses. Each processes data under its own privacy terms. Beyond that, data is disclosed only where the law requires it, such as in response to a valid legal order.

Cookies in more detail

You can control cookies entirely from your browser. Every modern browser lets you block them, delete them, or be warned before one is set. Blocking cookies will not stop you reading recipes here, because none of the content is gated behind one. It may mean a comment form does not remember your details, and it will prevent analytics from counting your visit, which is a perfectly reasonable choice.

If you leave a comment and tick the box to save your details, WordPress sets cookies lasting around one year. Administrator login cookies last two days, screen option cookies last a year, and selecting "Remember Me" extends a login to two weeks. All are removed on logout.

Embedded content from other websites

Some pages may include embedded content such as a video, a map or a social media post. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited that other website directly. Those providers may collect data about you, set cookies, embed additional third party tracking and monitor your interaction with the embed, including if you are logged in to their service. This site has no control over that, and their own privacy policies apply.

Advertising and affiliate links

Where a page carries an affiliate link, it points to a product on a third party retailer that may pay a small commission if you buy. It never changes the price you pay and never changes what gets recommended. If advertising is introduced in future, ad networks may use cookies to serve adverts based on your previous browsing. You can usually opt out of personalised advertising through the network's own settings or through your browser and device.

Your rights over your data

Depending on where you live you may have some or all of the following rights, and this site will honour them regardless of your location.

  • Access. Ask for a copy of the personal data held about you.
  • Correction. Ask for inaccurate data to be corrected.
  • Erasure. Ask for your data to be deleted, subject to any legal duty to retain it.
  • Restriction and objection. Ask that processing be limited, or object to it outright.
  • Portability. Ask for an export in a machine readable file.
  • Withdraw consent previously given, at any time.
  • Complain to the data protection regulator in your country.

To use any of these, email info@kitchennodes.com from the address you originally wrote in with, or give enough detail for the request to be matched to your records. There is no charge, and no request will be met with pressure to change your mind.

Children

This site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under sixteen. Cooking with children is a fine idea, but the site itself is not designed for a child to submit information through. If you believe a child has sent data through the form or a comment, write in and it will be deleted promptly.

How data is protected

The site runs over HTTPS, so traffic between your browser and the server is encrypted. Software, themes and plugins are kept updated, administrator access is limited, and the contact form carries a nonce check, a hidden honeypot field, a timing check and a rate limit to keep automated abuse out. No website can promise perfect security, and any site claiming otherwise should be treated with suspicion. The strongest protection here is simply how little personal data is held.

International data transfers

The site is operated from Pakistan and may use hosting, email and analytics services located elsewhere, including in the European Union and the United States. Data may therefore cross borders in the ordinary course of the site working. Providers are chosen on the basis that they offer appropriate safeguards for the data they process.

Recipes link out where a source, a technique or a product is worth pointing to. Once you follow a link you are on someone else's website and this policy no longer applies. Reading the privacy policy of any site you land on is always worth the thirty seconds it takes.

Changes to this policy

This policy will be updated when the site changes: if analytics are added or removed, if advertising is introduced, or if the law changes what must be disclosed. Material changes will be stated plainly at the top of the page rather than buried in a clause.
